Re-use and Recycling
Give it Away - Take it Away Reuse Event
Sunday, 12 September 2010
10:00 - 4:00
Chepstow Comprehensive School Car Park
Chepstow
You are invited to bring unwanted, yet still useful, items and materials to the Chepstow Comprehensive School Car Park on Sunday the 12th of September 2010, and to take away any items / materials you can make use of.
The event will run from 10am to 4pm, although the last time for dropping off items is 2.30pm. Donors do not need to remain with their items as the organisers provide marshals. Anything taken away is at your own risk, and there is no guarantee that items will work. Any goods left over will be offered to the charity Tools for Self-Reliance and the remainder will be taken by Homemakers, the Abergavenny-based furniture reuse charity.
Household, DIY and electrical goods and toys are in demand. We ask that people put labels on less usual items and that items in several parts are securely fastened together. Livestock, hazardous goods and rubbish are the only items not accepted. No money changes hands. The event enables people to pass on unwanted goods to those who can make use of them free of charge. Transition Chepstow is again organising the reuse event with the support of Keep Wales Tidy.
People who are unable to bring their items to the site can participate by filling in a card with a description and/or photograph of their item and a contact phone number. These cards can be collected from the One Stop Shop in Chepstow Library from Monday 6th September and should be returned by Friday 10th September so that they can be displayed on a board at the event.
The aim is to reuse goods rather than throwing them away and filling up landfill sites. Most of us have heard of the three 'R's of waste - Reduce, Re-use, Recycle - but we tend to focus on recycling and forget about re-use. Transition Chepstow is inviting people to put to good use all those things that are cluttering up your garages and lofts - things which you no longer have a use for but which someone else might welcome.
