‘Smart’ controllers for maximising use of PV (or wind) energy
Since April 2010 over 100 local property owners have installed a Photovoltaic (PV) electricity generation system. Clearly most folk want to maximise their financial return by efficiently using as much of the generated PV electricity as feasible. Possibly the most widely supported approach is to use notionally ‘spare’ PV electricity to heat up water using an immersion heater thereby reducing the use of other more expensive ways of doing this. The Energy Network has identified a number of related technologies and is organising some associated trials, hopefully including Case Studies which enable us to share related experiences and information.
