Food

A community working group has been formed to look at how our local food needs can
be met in the face of the challenges that climate change and increasing
oil prices are bringing. For more details contact Marcus via
food@transitionchepstow.org.uk
 or 07944 468052.

The aims of the group are;
- Reduce the carbon footprint of our food supplies
- Improve our local food security
- Support local food providers
- Reduce our reliance on supermarket food
- Encourage residents to grow more edible plants
- Encourage everyone to eat fresher, healthier food
- Improve cooking skills and increase home cooking
- Reduce imported water in foods
- Reduce food waste

Tidenham Landshare Project

Land owner Lyndon Edwards and his family meet with Transition Chepstow to help launch 'Tidenham Landshare'.

Transition Chepstow is delighted to announce the ‘Tidenham Landshare Project’.  With the generous support of land owner Lyndon Edwards, local residents are being offered loaned plots of land to grow their own fruit and vegetables in return for either sharing their excess produce with Lyndon or paying a small annual rental fee.

The site is 1 mile north of Tidenham, neighbouring the Hanley Trading complex, immediately accessible from the A48.  Growers will be required to sign a ‘growing agreement’ with the land owner, Lyndon Edwards.

To express an interest in having a  plot, please forward the information below to food@transitionchepstow.org.uk .  Returning this information is only an expression of interest and does not commit you to the project.

If you want to take part in the growing but don’t have the time or skills to take on a whole plot of your own, why not help out on the Transition Chepstow plot at Tidenham Landhsare and swap your time for produce!
We have been working up the 2012 planting plan for the plot.  Details of the plan can be found below…….

Chepstow Gardens – ‘Ideas Tour’ July 2011

This was our second local garden tour.  Organised by Alison, we visited six gardens, all wonderful in their own ways.
