Re-Use And Recycling

The Transition Chepstow Reuse & Recycling Group’s mission is to increase the town’s resilience by reducing its waste. In our opinion “waste” is really unwanted resources and we would like to see it either eliminated or utilised.

Recycling is now an accepted part of most people’s lifestyle but we would like to encourage Chepstow to move up the Waste Hierarchy by focusing more on reduce and reuse.

Our Plastic Bag Free Chepstow initiative is looking to reduce single-use carrier bag usage – cutting costs for retailers, reducing litter and encouraging shoppers to use a reusable bag to take their purchases home.

Our Give it Away/Take it Away reuse events aim to encourage people to find a good home for their unwanted possessions and to look for second-hand items rather than always purchasing new.

Where waste can not be eliminated, we would like to see it reused or recycled. Finding a use for unwanted resources can create local jobs and make local businesses more sustainable by cutting their costs.
