Tidal Energy
Chepstow is on the River Wye and is adjacent to the Severn Estuary which as most folk know has one of the highest tidal ranges (difference between high and low tide) in the world. Hence it wasn’t too surprising that at Transition Chepstow Energy Network’s February 2012 workshop one of the participants proposed and got strong support for an engineering concept to capture and use the local tidal energy.
Since then the concept has been developed and discussions have been taking place with potential academic and commercial collaborating partners.
